ASABA: The Delta State government is set to collaborate with Metwest steal, a prominent steel manufacturing firm, to accelerate the state’s industrialisation efforts.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, during a courtesy visit by the company’s Chairman, Mr. Arun Goswami, and Managing Director (MD), Mr. Osaro Abusomwan, at the Government House in Asaba on Friday, expressed his administration’s eagerness to work with Metwest Steel and other investors committed to the state’s long-term development.
Governor Oborevwori shared his recent visit to the company’s factory and the Delta Free Trade Zone in Kwale, noting that it was part of a thorough assessment to gauge the potential for collaboration. He stressed the need for a public private partnership, where both the Delta State and the private sector would carefully review the ongoing projects and make informed decisions about their continued progress.
I want to assure you that we are ready to continue with this partnership,” Governor Oborevwori affirmed.

During the meeting, Mr. Goswami outlined the company’s plans to develop the Kwale Free Trade Zone, manage the Gas to Homes project in Delta State, and establish a Seamless Pipe and Cylinder manufacturing plant in Warri.
These initiatives are expected to create significant job opportunities, with over 500 direct jobs initially and a projected 7,000 jobs over the next six years, alongside numerous indirect job opportunities. More also, the projects are anticipated to enhance the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
MD Mr. Abusomwan thanked the Governor for supporting the proposals and expressed optimism that the collaboration would foster economic growth and industrial development in Delta State.
