Delta Police Arrest Content Creator Over Alleged Rape Linked to Woman’s Suicide

ASABA: Delta State Police Command has arrested a 44-year-old content creator, popularly known as Odogwu Asaba, over allegations that he raped a 21-year-old woman who was later reported to have died by suicide.

Police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe confirmed the arrest on Wednesday, stating that the suspect is in police custody while investigations continue.

According to information available to the police, the deceased, whose identity has been withheld, was allegedly lured to Asaba by the suspect under the promise of receiving assistance.

The young woman was later alleged to have been sexually assaulted before she subsequently died by suicide.

The suspect was arrested on Tuesday at his residence in Asaba following a petition submitted by Warri-based human rights activist Comrade Israel Joe, who called for a thorough investigation into the incident.

Police authorities have not disclosed further details about the case but confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.

Human rights activist Israel Joe commended the Delta State Police Command for acting swiftly on the petition and urged authorities to ensure that justice is served.

The police are expected to conclude their investigation before determining the next legal steps in the case.
