STOCKHOLM: Stockholm authorities are investigating a tragic bus crash that left three people dead, and three others injured on Friday afternoon.
The incident occurred at 3:23 pm on Valhallavägen, a major street in the Östermalm district of the Swedish capital.
According to police reports, a double-decker city bus, which was not in service at the time, crashed into a bus stop.
Emergency services were quickly on the scene, where they found the bus had suffered extensive front-end damage. The collision resulted in immediate casualties, and several people were taken to hospital for treatment.

Investigators are currently treating the incident as involuntary manslaughter, but further details are still under review.
Swedish news agency TT reported that no passengers were on board the bus at the time of the collision.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with emergency personnel attending to the injured and cordoning off the area for safety.
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson expressed his condolences on X, stating: I have received the tragic news that several people have been killed and injured at a bus stop.
These were people perhaps on their way home to family, friends, or a quiet evening at home. My thoughts are with those affected and their families.
The crash has prompted a heavy emergency response and the deployment of multiple police and rescue teams.
Authorities are continuing to investigate all possible causes, including mechanical failure, driver error, or other contributing factors.
