Global music star Shakira has released Dai Dai, the official anthem for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, featuring Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Burna Boy.
The singer announced the release on Friday through her social media pages, telling fans that the countdown to the tournament had begun. FIFA also confirmed that the track is now available on major streaming platforms worldwide.
According to FIFA, the song was released through Sony Music Latin and is tied to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative aimed at raising $100 million before the end of the tournament to expand access to education and football opportunities for children globally.
Royalties from Dai Dai will support the fund, with Shakira pledging her share of the proceeds, while Sony Music will match the first $250,000 raised through additional donations.
The anthem combines themes of resilience, unity and ambition, while its lyrics reference some of football’s biggest legends and stars, including Pelé, Diego Maradona, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Mohamed Salah.
The track also mentions several football nations such as Brazil, Argentina, Nigeria, United States, France and Japan.
This marks Shakira’s return to the World Cup music stage after her previous tournament hits, Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) and La La La.
For Burna Boy, it marks another major milestone for Nigerian music on the global football scene. He becomes the second Nigerian artist to feature on an official World Cup soundtrack after Davido, who appeared on Hayya Hayya (Better Together) for the 2022 tournament in Qatar.
Meanwhile, FIFA has also announced that Rema will headline the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Cup in Los Angeles on June 12, while Shakira is set to co-headline the final halftime shows on July 19 — the first halftime shows in the tournament’s history.
