Tension reportedly boiled over during a meeting of the All Progressives Congress in Enugu State after the Ward 5 chairman in Enugu South Local Government Area was allegedly attacked by some party members following a disagreement over money sharing.
According to reports, the incident occurred shortly after the meeting ended on Saturday. Witnesses said party members became agitated during discussions surrounding the distribution of money allegedly meant for members, leading to a heated confrontation that quickly turned physical.
The ward chairman, while narrating his experience, claimed he was about to begin sharing the money when some individuals suddenly descended on him. He alleged that the attackers tore his clothes and physically assaulted him in the presence of other members.
A video making rounds online captured the chaotic scene, with voices shouting in the background as the chairman struggled during the confrontation. The footage has since sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing shock over the incident.
The development has also triggered conversations about growing tensions, indiscipline and internal conflicts within grassroots political structures ahead of future political activities in the state.
