A chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Bayelsa State, Dr. Moses Oruaze Dickson, has praised the successful conduct of the party’s national convention held in Abuja, describing it as peaceful, transparent and a strong signal that the party is fully prepared for the 2027 general elections.
Speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the convention, Dr. Dickson said the orderly process reflected the maturity, unity and internal democratic culture within the party.
According to him, the NDC has continued to demonstrate commitment to democratic principles through the successful conduct of its ward, local government, state and zonal congresses, which culminated in the national convention.
He commended leaders and stakeholders of the party for their sacrifices, dedication and collective efforts toward building what he described as a formidable political platform capable of addressing the aspirations of Nigerians.
Dr. Dickson urged party members to remain steadfast, focused and committed to the vision of the party, stressing that unity would remain critical to its success ahead of future elections.
The NDC stalwart, who is also a leading aspirant for the Sagbama Constituency One seat in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, said the increasing popularity of the party across the country showed that more Nigerians were embracing its ideals and programmes.
He noted that many citizens continued to identify with the party because of what he described as its commitment to justice, equity and national development.
Dr. Dickson also paid tribute to the national leader of the party, Henry Seriake Dickson, describing him as a statesman and political icon whose leadership qualities continue to inspire younger politicians nationwide.
He said the former Bayelsa governor had remained consistent in promoting democratic values, peace and inclusive leadership.
Calling on party members to remain peaceful and law-abiding, he also urged them to sustain the momentum and dedication needed to ensure the success of forthcoming party primaries.
The peaceful conduct of this convention is a strong reflection of the stability, discipline and democratic ideals of our party. From the ward congresses up to this national convention, the NDC has shown that it is organised, united and fully prepared for the 2027 elections,” he said.
