Pastor Adeboye Speaks on America–Nigeria Tensions: Urges Government to Act Wisely and Decisively

LAGOS: The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has urged the Nigerian government to respond swiftly and wisely to the current diplomatic tensions involving the United States and Nigeria.

Speaking shortly after the November 2025 Holy Ghost Service at the Redemption City of God, Pastor Adeboye advised the nation’s military authorities not only to confront and eliminate terrorists but also to identify and deal decisively with those sponsoring them.

According to him, if the United States decides to take military action against Nigeria, other global powers such as China and Russia might only issue condemnations but would not intervene to defend Nigeria.

The revered cleric lamented that Nigeria’s longstanding harmony between Christians and Muslims was disrupted when politicians introduced religion into the nation’s political arena. He therefore cautioned that this is not a time to trade blame but a time to find lasting solutions.

Concluding his message, Pastor Adeboye referenced Newton’s First Law of Motion, reminding his congregation that an object will remain at rest or continue in motion at a constant velocity in a straight line unless acted upon by an external force.

He likened this to the need for decisive action to move the nation forward.

He further noted that the 100 days of fasting earlier in the year were not in vain, revealing that while he was praying about next week’s Abuja Holy Ghost Service long before U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent declaration placing Nigeria on the “Country of Particular Concern list the Lord gave him the theme Fear Not.

Adeboye added that although many Nigerians had been waiting for his comment on the issue, he had remained silent because, as a member of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), he is under authority and only speaks when permitted by the association’s leadership. However, he said he felt compelled to address his congregation directly at this time.
