ACF Criticise Tinubu Policies, Pledges Support for Northern Candidates in 2027 Elections

KADUNA: The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has announced its support for northern candidates seeking the presidency and other offices in the 2027 elections, aiming to address the region’s worsening situation. The decision was made during the forum’s National Executive Council meeting in Kaduna, where concerns were raised about the poor economic conditions in the North under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The ACF attributed the region’s struggles to the Federal Government’s inadequate socio-economic policies. The forum warned that without urgent intervention, the North could face even greater economic challenges.

It also expressed its dissatisfaction with the leadership selection process under the current government, which it believes has allowed individuals lacking competence and experience to hold key positions.

In a statement released by National Publicity Secretary Professor Tukur Muhammad-Baba, the ACF called on the government to review its economic policies and reassess their impact on the people, emphasizing that security is a fundamental responsibility of any government. The forum highlighted the escalating insecurity in the region, which it said undermines the authority of the government.

Also, the ACF criticized the economic policies that have led to the further impoverishment of ordinary citizens, particularly in the North, where the region faces chronic food insecurity, unemployment, and lack of educational opportunities.

The forum urged the government to implement reforms that prioritize the well-being of the people rather than exacerbating their struggles.
