The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has announced the released of results for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) for School Candidates, 2024.
The release of the results was revealed on Monday in a statement issued available to the candidates.
Taking to the board official X account (formally twitter), the examination body said: “The West African Examinations Council is pleased to inform candidates who sat WASSCE for school candidates, 2024 that the result has officially been released today, Monday, August 12, 2024.”
The results were made available to candidates on Monday. at the examination body official site.The examination body disclosed this in a post on X.
The message read, “The West African Examinations Council is pleased to inform candidates who sat WASSCE for school cand, idates2024 that the result has officially been released today, Monday, August 12, 2024.”
Similarly, in a Monday statement, WAEC’s Head of Nigeria Organisation, Amos Dangut, stated that the exam which was the first conducted under his term was a success.
Dangut said, “Gentlemen of the media, the conduct of the WASSCE for school candidates, 2024, the first conducted under my administration, was a huge success. Meanwhile, after my assumption of office, WASSCE for private Candidate, 2023-Second Series and the novel computer-based WASSCE
He stated that the results of 1,685,889 candidates, accounting for 93.9 per cent were released. Dangut continued, “1,805,216 candidates registered for the WASSCE, regardless the fact that insecurity hindered the exam’s administration in various parts of the nation.”
“WAEC is releasing its results today. Of the 1,805, 216 candidates who took the exam, 1,332, 089 have credits in five subjects, including any subjects that include mathematics or English language, and 1,301, 949 candidates, or 72.9% of the total candidates, have credits in five subjects, including mathematics and English language.
“This represents a 7.6% decline in exam performance from the 2023 WASSCE’s previous year.” Also 215, 267 results were withheld due to examination malpractice by the candidates.
This accounts for 11.92% of the total number of candidates who wrote the examination,” Dangut said.
The WAEC boss also highlighted four challenges encountered around the conduct of the examination. According to the statement, they are security concerns, non-adherence to registration deadlines, financial issues/inflation and rogue website operators/shameless connivance of some supervisors.
