ASABA: Members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Asaba Chapter, have committed to working closely with security agencies and other relevant stakeholders to identify and arrest herdsmen involved in criminal activities, such as kidnapping and other unlawful acts. This pledge was made by the chapter’s chairman, Alhaji Musa Daru, during an address to members in Asaba, Delta State’s capital.
Alhaji Musa Daru emphasized the longstanding history of the Miyetti Allah members in Delta State, explaining that many of them were born and raised in the region and have been in the cattle business for decades. He expressed confusion as to why some individuals involved in cattle rearing would resort to violence, including carrying arms and engaging in criminal activities, which disrupt the peace of the state.
The chairman made a passionate appeal to local leaders in the Oshimili South Local Government Area, including the chairman and influential community figures, to reconsider their calls for designated grazing areas for the herders. He reiterated that the association was firmly opposed to any actions that would undermine the peace and stability of the state. “We are not in support of anything that threatens the peace of our communities,” he said, stressing the importance of maintaining harmony in Delta.
In his address, Alhaji Daru expressed gratitude to the Oshimili South Local Government Chairman, Dr. Kelvin Ezenyili, for his willingness to allow members of Miyetti Allah to graze their cattle in designated areas. He emphasized that the group supports any initiative that promotes peaceful coexistence and development in the state.
Daru also extended his thanks to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his efforts to transform Delta State through the MORE (Mobilize, Organize, Re-orient, and Empower) agenda, which has had a positive impact across various sectors of the state. He assured the governor of the association’s continued support, pledging to contribute to the state’s growth and prosperity.
Alhaji Daru made it clear that while the association supports peaceful grazing, they would not tolerate any criminal activities conducted under the guise of herding. He issued a strong warning to those who may attempt to foment trouble in the name of cattle grazing, stating that anyone caught engaging in criminal behavior would be held accountable and face the full consequences of the law.
“Anyone found causing unrest or participating in criminal activities will be dealt with in accordance with the law,” Daru asserted, underlining the association’s zero-tolerance policy for crime

Alhaji Abubakar Falo, another member of Miyetti Allah, also weighed in on the issue, reiterating the group’s opposition to criminality in the name of grazing. He emphasized that their members have always maintained peaceful relations with host communities and have been committed to the peaceful conduct of their business. Falo expressed concern that the actions of a few rogue elements within the community should not tarnish the reputation of the entire group or jeopardize their livelihood.
He called on the authorities to allow herders to graze in designated areas, ensuring that the broader community does not suffer because of the few bad actors involved in criminal activities. He reiterated the importance of collaboration with local governments and security agencies to ensure that the cattle business can thrive in a secure and peaceful environment.
In conclusion, the Miyetti Allah Asaba Chapter reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace, supporting lawful practices, and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens in Delta State.
