ABUJA: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Ayo Hulayat Omidiran, a former member of the House of Representatives, as the new Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC).
Omidiran takes over from Dr. Muheeba Dankaka, whose tenure was marred by controversy.
In a statement on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President also named Mohammed Musa as the Commission’s Secretary and retained Kayode Oladele, the commissioner from Ogun State, who had been serving as Acting Chairman. Oladele, also a former lawmaker, was first appointed to the FCC in 2024.
Tinubu renewed the appointments of Lawal Ya’u Roni (Jigawa), Abubakar Atiku Bunu (Kebbi), and Eludayo Eluyemi (Osun) for a second term, along with Abdulwasiu Kayode Bawalla, the Lagos State commissioner.
