SOKOTO: Tension reportedly gripped parts of Sokoto metropolis on Friday after prominent Islamic cleric, Sheikh Musa Lukuwa, was stabbed shortly after leading the Jumu’at prayer.
The incident reportedly followed an allegation that the cleric had made controversial remarks concerning the biological parents of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
According to sources, the cleric was confronted by a man shortly after the Friday congregational prayer over the alleged remarks. The confrontation reportedly escalated before the man stabbed Sheikh Lukuwa.
The cleric sustained injuries and was subsequently rushed to a hospital for medical attention. His condition could not be independently verified as of the time of filing this report.
