ASABA: In a bold step towards fulfilling his campaign promises and advancing the MORE Agenda, Governor Sheriff on Tuesday officially launched his administration’s Widows’ Welfare Scheme, tagged Widows Alert.
The initiative is in line with the second pillar of the MORE agenda Opportunity for All and is designed to provide financial support and healthcare coverage for widows across the state.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, Governor Sheriff reaffirmed his commitment to running an open and inclusive government that prioritizes the welfare of vulnerable groups in society.
As part of the rollout, all enrolled beneficiaries will receive immediate payment of three months’ arrears alongside their monthly stipends. The Governor assured that the stipends will be sustained, offering widows consistent financial relief.

In addition, Governor Sheriff directed the immediate enrollment of 10,000 widows into the State’s Contributory Health Insurance Scheme.
He further approved the payment of monthly health insurance premiums for all beneficiaries to guarantee uninterrupted access to quality healthcare.
Governor Sheriff emphasized that the welfare of widows and other vulnerable individuals remains a top priority for his administration.
