ASABA: The spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest, noting that the suspect remains in custody while investigations continue.
Edafe explained that the operation was carried out following actionable intelligence suggesting that the location was being used as a centre for illegal gun production.
In a separate operation, a joint patrol team from the Ovwian‑Aladja Division also recovered another firearm during a routine stop-and-search exercise.
The patrol team, led by Divisional Police Officer Ekundayo Friday, alongside Police Raiders Volunteers, Anti-Cult Volunteers and Hunters Volunteers, was conducting security checks along Film Hall Road when they noticed a group of suspected hoodlums.
Police said the individuals fled immediately after sighting the security operatives. Officers pursued them, and during the chase the suspects reportedly abandoned a black bag.

A search of the bag led to the recovery of a locally fabricated short gun, which has since been taken into custody as evidence.
Authorities said efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
Meanwhile, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to strengthening intelligence-driven policing and proactive security operations across the state.
He also commended the officers involved in the operations for their vigilance and professionalism in tackling illegal arms production and other criminal activities.
