LAGOS: News of Paystack co-founder Ezra Olubi’s dismissal from the tech company has drawn reactions from many, including his former polycule partner, Max Obae.
Max publicly praised Paystack’s decision, describing it as a sign of a mature company and a positive step for the start-up industry in Africa.
Max had previously been in a three-way romantic relationship with Olubi and her lesbian partner, a relationship the trio openly acknowledged on social media.
In addition to commenting on the firing, Max also revealed that she had fully repaid a $55,000 loan previously owed to Olubi.
Sharing a screenshot of a bank confirmation, she wrote: The final transfer of $5k has now been delivered to Ezra, completing the full $55k repayment. That’s that.
Olubi’s dismissal comes after weeks of online uproar over his old tweets, which many described as disturbing.
Paystack had suspended him and launched an investigation. Olubi later claimed he was fired before the investigation concluded and without an opportunity to defend himself.
The situation has sparked discussions about accountability, corporate ethics, and how start-ups in Africa handle allegations of misconduct among high-profile executives.
