ABUJA: Governor Simi Fubara, Governor Dauda Lawal and other People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governors are currently meeting in Abuja over the recent crisis rocking the opposition party
The current meeting in Abuja is taking place at the residence of Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State.
The meeting is one of several that the People Democratic Party (PDP) leadership has called to discuss internal conflicts the party has been having lately.
Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), and Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau) are among the governors in attendance in addition to Mohammed OF Bauchi State.
We could recall that the governors elected on the Peoples Democratic Party platform in September condemned Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike for threatening to destabilize their states for supporting Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The PDP Governors’ Forum’s director general, Emmanuel Agbo, released a statement that contained the governors’ response.
The PDP governors have met and reaffirmed their support for Fubara, the estranged political godson of Wike’s amidst the ongoing political struggle between the two. Fubara was demanding that he take over the Rivers PDP structure.
Displeased by the governors’ intervention, Wike, in Port Harcourt, warned the governors to stay out of the Rivers issues, warning that he could orchestrate crisis in their states if they would not desist
Although, the PDP governors responded to him by labeling Wike’s threat “empty” in a statement released by Emmanuel Agbo

Though the agenda of the meeting is not disclose to journalists, issues about having a substantive chairman for the party, the convening of a national executive committee meeting, and preparations for the forthcoming Ondo state governorship election have dominated discussions in some of their recent meetings.
