ASABA: Stakeholders of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State converged on Friday for a high-level meeting that brought together Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Minister Festus Keyamo, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, and other party leaders, signaling a new era of unity in the state.
Since Governor Oborevwori led several former PDP leaders to the APC, relations among leaders had been tense. The meeting, however, emphasized collective goals such as party unity, e-registration, grassroots mobilization, and preparations ahead of upcoming congresses.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Oborevwori urged members to prioritize the party’s collective interest over personal ambitions, stressing that the votes they deliver in the 2027 elections would determine their influence and federal support.
He highlighted that unity remains the party’s greatest strength and that leadership should be guided by humility, empathy, and service.
Meetings like this allow us to review progress, strengthen structures, and prepare for key political milestones. Mobilization, registration, and participation will ultimately shape electoral outcomes, he said.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Chief Festus Keyamo, called for early engagement and consensus-building at the local level, warning against rumors and delays. He advised open dialogue to minimize tensions and foster inclusiveness.
Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, immediate past Deputy Senate President, pledged to work collaboratively with Governor Oborevwori and other stakeholders to strengthen the APC.
He described the meeting as a gesture of inclusiveness, marking his first visit to the Government House in several years.
Former Delta Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, commended the unity and sustained engagement of stakeholders, urging intensified grassroots mobilization to deepen e-registration and bring the process closer to communities.
He emphasized consensus in upcoming congresses and lauded Oborevwori’s role in fostering harmony.
APC National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Felix Morka, praised Oborevwori’s leadership and the digitalization of the party’s membership register, advocating a consensus approach for the forthcoming congresses.
State APC Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, noted that over 90% of party realignments had been achieved since April 2025, describing the meeting as evidence of growing momentum. E-registration Coordinator, Prince Fred Mordi, confirmed rising registration figures and expressed confidence that targets would be met despite minor challenges.
Delta North APC Chairman, Ogbueshi Adizue Eluaka, reported peace in the district but flagged registration issues, while Delta Central Chairman, Chief Paulinus Akpeki, highlighted Okpe Local Government as a leading area.
Delta South Chairman, Prince Austin Oribioye, called for the resolution of technical glitches to ensure targets are achieved.
A minute of silence was observed in honor of the late Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, who represented Delta North Senatorial District.
