Nigerian Woman Dies Mid-Air on Ethiopian Airlines Flight from Abuja to US

A Nigerian family is seeking answers after their mother reportedly died mid-air aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Abuja to Washington DC, with circumstances surrounding her death remaining unclear.

The family, who asked to remain anonymous, appealed to passengers on flight ET 950 to provide any information that could shed light on the incident.

They said repeated attempts to obtain an explanation from the airline have so far been unsuccessful.

In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), one of the deceased’s daughters said her mother was not ill before the trip and urged Nigerians to help amplify their call for clarity.

She also alleged that airline personnel who provided first aid were reportedly instructed not to speak to the family or the public.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) confirmed it is aware of the case. Spokesman Michael Achimugu stated that the authority is in contact with both the family and the airline.

Ethiopian Airlines has submitted their report, and we are waiting for some reports from the family.

We speak with the family almost daily and are committed to ensuring full closure is achieved, Achimugu said.

The incident has drawn widespread attention online, with calls for transparency and accountability from both the airline and regulatory authorities.
