Nigerian Model Samuel Nwajagu Makes History as First African to Win Mister International Title

Samuel Nwajagu, a Nigerian model, made history this weekend by becoming the first African to win the prestigious Mister International title. The 16th edition of the pageant took place in Bangkok, Thailand, and saw 47 countries from around the world participate. This included debuting nations such as Cameroon, England, Benin Republic, and Mali.

Mister International is one of the largest male beauty pageants globally, second only to Mister World in terms of national-level competitions. Founded in 2006 by Alan Sim, the organization has expanded to attract participants from over 80 countries.

This year’s contest included a variety of challenges, such as a city tour, showcasing physical attributes, cultural attire, and formal wear. Contestants also answered questions on current global issues, allowing them to showcase their intelligence and charisma.

In the final round, Nwajagu triumphed over Nguyễn Mạnh Lân of Vietnam and Glenn Victor Sutanto of Indonesia, who also made it to the top three. Kim Thitisan Goodburn, the 2023 titleholder, crowned Nwajagu as his successor.

Notably, the 2024 edition marked a significant shift for the Mister International pageant, as it allowed fathers, as well as married and divorced men, to compete for the first time in its 16-year history.

Samuel Nwajagu, a 23-year-old model from Anambra State, Nigeria, is passionate about fashion, fitness, and wellness, and his win marks a groundbreaking achievement for Africa in the global male beauty pageant scene.
