ABUJA: The Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of applications for the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 29/2026, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for commissioning as officers.
According to a statement released on Tuesday via the Army’s official X handle, the programme is open to both civilians and serving military personnel who possess relevant professional qualifications.
Successful candidates will be commissioned into specialised corps of the Nigerian Army to support national defence and security operations.
The Army listed the available corps to include the Nigerian Army Engineers, Nigerian Army Signals, Nigerian Army Medical Corps, Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, and the Nigerian Army Education Corps, among others.
Applications are free and must be completed online. The recruitment portal will be open from January 7 to February 4, 2026. Prospective applicants have been advised to apply early and ensure that all required information is correctly provided during the application process.
