New Appointments to NCDMB Governing Council: Tinubu Names Four Industry Experts

ABUJA: President Bola Tinubu has approved the nomination of four new members to the Governing Council of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB). This step is aimed at filling existing vacancies and strengthening the board’s overall capacity to better address the growing needs of the oil and gas sector.

The appointment, which was announced on Thursday, seeks to ensure that the NCDMB continues to play a pivotal role in the development of local content within the Nigerian oil and gas industry.

The new members include Mr. Olusegun Omosehin, who is from the National Insurance Commission; Engr. Wole Ogunsanya, a representative of the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN); Sam Onyechi, who represents the Nigerian Content Consultative Forum; and Barrister Owei Oyanbo, a representative from the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.

These new appointments are expected to bring a wealth of expertise and a fresh perspective to the NCDMB, which is instrumental in the implementation of Nigeria’s oil and gas content development policies.

The nomination of these members follows the exit of previous institutional representatives, creating an opportunity to refresh the council with individuals who possess the technical know-how and leadership capabilities required to drive local content initiatives.

The NCDMB was established under Section 69 of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act of 2010 and includes representatives from various key institutions.

These institutions include the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), and others.

In his statement, President Tinubu encouraged the newly appointed members to utilize their skills, knowledge, and dedication to further strengthen Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, particularly in enhancing local content development
