ABEOKUTA: The search for a missing Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer, Funmilayo Oluwamayokun Lasisi, and her teenage daughter, Sewa Lasisi, has ended in tragedy after their mutilated remains were discovered in the home of a suspected herbalist in Osun State.
The 39-year-old officer and her daughter were declared missing in Ogun State on Sunday, November 2, after leaving their residence at the Obasanjo Hilltop Estate, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, but failing to return home.
All attempts by their family, colleagues and friends to reach them on their mobile phones proved unsuccessful, sparking days of fear and frantic searches.
Oluwamayokun, a Superintendent Route Commander (SRC), was a fourth-level senior operational officer with oversight over major routes and enforcement operations. Her sudden disappearance raised major concerns within the FRSC, which immediately activated internal tracking procedures and notified security agencies.
According to a Facebook user, Ayomideji Solanke, who shared details from a family source, the breakthrough came over the weekend when investigators traced the case to a traditional healer’s house in an undisclosed community in Osun State.
Inside the herbalist’s property, authorities reportedly discovered mutilated body parts believed to belong to the missing officer and her daughter—suggesting they were victims of a suspected ritual killing.
Solanke wrote:
The mystery surrounding their disappearance has taken a tragic turn. Their remains were reportedly discovered in the home of a suspected herbalist. This is extremely heartbreaking for the family.
He added that while the herbalist managed to flee, his wife has been arrested by security operatives.
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, confirmed the horrifying development on Tuesday, November 18.
He disclosed that the Osun State Police Command has arrested some suspects connected to the crime and recovered exhibits believed to be the body parts of both victims.
The Osun command has commenced investigation, and they have made some arrests.
They found some exhibits that are suspected to be body parts. For convenience’s sake, Osun will be investigating the matter, and we will be lending necessary support, Ogunlowo said.
Police sources say a manhunt is currently underway for the fleeing herbalist, who is considered the prime suspect.
The Lasisi family is said to be in deep shock as investigators continue piecing together how the officer and her daughter left home that Sunday morning and ended up at the herbalist’s den.
The motive behind the crime has not yet been officially established, but operatives strongly suspect ritual intentions.
The FRSC has not released an official statement as of the time of this report, but colleagues have expressed grief online, describing Oluwamayokun as a dedicated officer and loving mother.
