LAGOS: MTN Nigeria has confirmed a network outage affecting subscribers in Lagos, Oyo, Rivers and Delta states, as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), leaving some customers experiencing difficulties accessing the telecommunications company’s services.
The telecom operator announced the disruption in a statement published on its official X account on Thursday, October 8, 2026, warning customers in the affected locations that some services might be temporarily unavailable.
According to the company, the disruption was caused by network challenges affecting parts of the five locations.
Network Outage Alert! We’re experiencing network challenges in some parts of Oyo, Lagos, Rivers, FCT and Delta States and our services may be temporarily unavailable as a result,” MTN stated.
The telecommunications provider said its technical team had been deployed to investigate and resolve the problem, with efforts underway to restore normal services as quickly as possible.
In a follow-up message, MTN apologised to customers experiencing difficulties and reassured subscribers that its engineers were working to address the situation.
Dear Customer, We are aware some of our customers are having challenges using our services. Our engineers are working to restore services as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience,” the company said.
The outage could affect customers’ ability to access some MTN services in the impacted areas, depending on the nature and extent of the disruption.
However, the company did not specify the exact cause of the network problem, the number of subscribers affected or when full services would be restored.
MTN urged affected customers to remain patient while its engineers continued working to resolve the disruption.
The development highlights the importance of reliable telecommunications services to individuals, businesses and organisations that depend on mobile connectivity for communication, financial transactions, internet access and other daily activities.
MTN Nigeria is one of the country’s major telecommunications operators, serving millions of subscribers across the country.
