According to reports, the deceased driver was conveying passengers from Asaba to Warri when his vehicle reportedly collided with a brand-new Toyota Sienna belonging to the suspect, damaging its side mirror.
Sources said the driver allegedly drove off without stopping, prompting the suspect to pursue him in anger.
The chase reportedly continued until the suspect double-crossed the commercial bus opposite SG Jones in Ughelli town.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the Delta Line driver attempted to maneuver into the opposite lane in a bid to escape but was intercepted.
The suspect allegedly dragged him out of the bus, and during a struggle between the two men, the driver suddenly collapsed.
He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where a doctor confirmed him dead on arrival.
The spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, had yet to issue an official statement on the incident as of press time.
The case has sparked concern among residents, with many calling for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the driver’s death.
