LAGOS: A Lagos-based content creator and thrift vendor, popularly known as Fems Thrift, has alleged that she and a friend were sexually assaulted after being lured to what was presented as a modelling job in the Ajao Estate area of Lagos State.
The allegation was made in a video shared on her TikTok page, where she claimed the incident occurred on February 8, 2026. According to her, a man contacted her on Instagram on February 1, claiming he had returned from the United Kingdom to launch an international fashion brand in Nigeria.
She said the individual offered her ₦140,000 for a modelling assignment and requested additional promotion of the brand through her social media platforms. She accepted the offer after being assured that a full production crew, including a make-up artist, would be present.
The content creator explained that she went to the location with a friend for safety. However, on arrival around 11 a.m., they allegedly found the apartment largely empty. The man reportedly claimed it was a content studio and that other crew members had stepped out.
According to her account, she was asked to take a shower in preparation for filming and was given a robe.
She alleged that the suspect later entered the room under the pretext of demonstrating how to lock the door but then locked them inside, threatened them and seized their mobile phones.
She further claimed the suspect forced them to unlock private folders on their devices and allegedly transferred personal files while threatening to release the materials online if they reported the incident.
The women reportedly left the apartment between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. the same day.
The video has generated widespread reactions on social media, with many users calling for the suspect’s arrest and urging law enforcement authorities to investigate. Images said to be of the alleged perpetrator have also circulated online.
When contacted, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said no formal complaint had been received as of February 11, 2026, but added that efforts were ongoing to reach the complainant so that investigations could begin.
