Kidnapped Family Freed After Sunday Igboho’s Two-Hour Ultimatum, Residents Celebrate

Residents of Igboho town in Oyo State erupted in celebration after a kidnapped family, including a pregnant woman, her children and a sibling, regained their freedom following a two-hour ultimatum issued by Yoruba nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.

Videos circulating on social media showed jubilant residents singing and dancing to welcome the victims back home, with many hailing the development as a relief after days of anxiety.

The release came hours after Igboho issued a strong warning to suspected Fulani community leaders over the growing wave of kidnappings and insecurity in the area.

In an earlier viral video, the activist addressed traditional rulers and community representatives, expressing outrage over alleged killings and abductions linked to criminal elements.

He referenced the case involving the abducted pregnant woman and claimed that a person who delivered ransom to secure the victims’ release was allegedly killed by the kidnappers.

The person who brought the ransom, you still killed him and spared only one person,” Igboho said.

He subsequently gave a two-hour ultimatum for the release of the remaining captives, insisting that he had exercised restraint because of appeals from traditional rulers.

I am Sunday Igboho. I am calm because my fathers asked me to be calm with you. Let this be the last time such a thing will happen, he declared.

The activist also warned that failure to release the victims would lead to decisive action, including the possibility of storming locations believed to be linked to the kidnappers.

Following the expiration of the ultimatum, videos shared online showed residents celebrating what was described as the release of the abducted family.

However, details surrounding the circumstances of their freedom were still unclear as of the time of filing this report.

The development has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing relief over the safe return of the victims while calling for sustained efforts to tackle insecurity and kidnapping across the country.
