Insecurity: Isaac Fayose To President Tinubu, Resign Now If You Truly Love Nigeria,

LAGOS: Businessman and social commentator Isaac Fayose has stirred nationwide debate after releasing a strongly worded video calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to resign over the escalating insecurity across the country.

Fayose, who is the younger brother of former Ekiti State governor Ayo Fayose, said Nigeria has reached a breaking point under the current administration, insisting that the President is not capable of ruling the nation given the spate of killings, kidnappings, and violent crimes recorded across multiple states in recent weeks.

In the viral video posted online, Fayose expressed frustration over what he described as the government’s inability to curb the kidnapping epidemic, bandit attacks, and deadly raids on rural communities According to him:

If you genuinely love Nigeria, resign now. You are not capable of ruling our nation. People are dying every day and nothing is changing.

He lamented that Nigerians now live in fear, with many afraid to travel, open businesses, or move freely even in broad daylight.

Fayose’s remarks come at a time when public anger is rising over repeated violent incidents, including:

  • The abduction of 25 schoolgirls in Kebbi State, where a vice principal was killed.

  • Attacks on commuters and farmers in parts of the North-West and North-Central.

  • Increasing reports of r*pe, armed robbery, and rural banditry in the South-East and South-West.

  • Continued presence of terror cells in remote communities despite military operations.

Security analysts have warned that coordinated attacks are becoming more brazen, with criminals exploiting gaps in intelligence and response time.

In his critique, Fayose insisted that Nigerians can no longer continue to pray and hope while lives are being lost.

He argued that a President who cannot guarantee security should “honorably step aside” and allow someone better prepared to tackle the crisis.

Every day, we wake up to bad news. How can a government watch its citizens die like this? You cannot continue telling us to be patient. Leadership is responsibility.

He said insecurity has crippled economic activities and heightened the cost of living as transporters, traders, and farmers increasingly avoid dangerous routes.

The video has drawn mixed reactions online:

  • Supporters praised him for speaking truth to power, describing the situation as unbearable.

  • Critics accused him of being biased and politicizing a national crisis.

  • Some commenters insisted that insecurity predates the Tinubu administration and requires structural reforms, not resignation.

However, a large number of Nigerians echoed his concerns about the alarming rise in violent crimes.

As of the time of filing this report, the Presidency has not issued an official response to Fayose’s comments.

President Tinubu has in recent days summoned top security chiefs, directing them to “take decisive action and intensify rescue operations for abducted schoolchildren.

Despite these directives, many citizens argue that results on the ground remain insufficient.
