LAGOS: Superstar singer Tiwa Savage has revealed that she is terrified of falling in love again, admitting that her past heartbreaks have left her guarded and insecure about romance.
Speaking during an interview on Hot 97FM, the Afrobeats queen confessed that despite her global success, she still struggles when it comes to matters of the heart.
I’m scared of love. I’m so scared that I feel like if someone comes along with the right intentions, I might not even be able to recognize it, she said.
I just might project onto him, like if he doesn’t call me back in ten minutes, I assume the worst. I’m praying that the right one doesn’t come, and I don’t recognise it.
I really am scared 100 percent. I just play around with it, but deep down I want love.
Tiwa, who once joked about wanting a man that looks like British Nigerian rapper Skepta, has now added that her ideal man must also be kind and financially stable.
Back in July 2025, she had made headlines for playfully saying she wanted a “Skepta-type guy,” but her new comments show a deeper side of her desire for true companionship.
The singer also recalled a past relationship with a famous personality who insisted their romance stay hidden.
He told me he didn’t want us to go public, Tiwa revealed on the Joe Budden Podcast, explaining how the man even flirted with other women in her presence to maintain the illusion of being single.
Fans believe her cautious attitude towards relationships stems largely from her marriage to Teebillz, which ended in 2018 after four years.
The union, once celebrated as a power couple love story, collapsed amid allegations of infidelity and irreconcilable differences.
Since then, Tiwa has been very private about her love life, dropping only small hints in her music and interviews.
Despite her fears, Tiwa Savage admitted that she still longs for love the kind that feels genuine and unconditional.
I haven’t experienced true love apart from the love of my son, she confessed, making it clear that while she may be afraid, her heart hasn’t completely shut down to the idea of romance.
For her millions of fans, Tiwa’s honesty shows that even global superstars who seem to have it all” still wrestle with the same fears and insecurities about love.
