I Found a Dead Vulture on My Bed After Winning Election — Okpebholo Reveals Strange Experiences

BENIN-CITY:  Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has recounted what he described as strange occurrences following his election victory and his administration’s crackdown on cultism, claiming that a dead vulture was once found on his bed and another bird died in his office.

The governor shared the accounts while addressing worshippers at a church, where he spoke about the importance of prayers and attributed his experiences to what he described as victory in his fight against cultism in Edo State.

Okpebholo said one of the incidents allegedly occurred after the demolition of the Black House on Sapele Road, which he linked to his administration’s campaign against cult-related activities.

According to the governor, his orderly informed him that a bird had died close to his seat in the office.

The first, when we break down the Black House in Sapele Road, a bird died in my office. My orderly came to tell me. He’s here in this church now, that a bird died close to your seat, Okpebholo said.

He claimed he instructed his orderly to dispose of the bird without bringing it to him.

I said, don’t worry, just throw it. I don’t even want to see. Because that battle has been won, the governor added.

The Edo governor also narrated another incident he said happened shortly after he won the governorship election.

According to Okpebholo, he had returned home exhausted after going several days without adequate sleep and was preparing to lie down when something reportedly stopped him.

He said he subsequently discovered a dead vulture on his bed.

When I won election, Sylvester is sitting with me here. We went to the house. I was tired. I had not slept for days, and I wanted to jump into the bed. Something held me back. I looked on the bed. I saw a vulture on my bed, dead. It’s not living anymore. That is victory, he recounted.

The governor did not provide further details about how the bird allegedly got onto his bed or the circumstances surrounding its death.

The accounts were presented as the governor’s personal experiences, and the circumstances surrounding the reported incidents have not been independently verified.Okpebholo suggested that the incidents were connected to his administration’s efforts to confront cultism, portraying the experiences as part of his account of overcoming challenges.

He also emphasised the importance of prayers, telling worshippers that spiritual support was necessary in the face of difficult responsibilities.

The governor’s remarks come amid continued attention to security and efforts to tackle cult-related violence in Edo State.

However, his account of the dead birds does not independently establish any supernatural connection between the incidents and his anti-cultism campaign.

During the church address, the governor also appealed to Christians to pray for President Bola Tinubu to secure a decisive political victory in Edo State.

So for this reason, I have also come to the children of God. I want President to win in Edo, to win very big, and I need your prayers, Okpebholo said.

His appeal placed the political message alongside his account of the reported incidents and his call for prayers.

The governor’s remarks have drawn attention because of the unusual nature of his claims, particularly his account of finding a dead vulture on his bed after winning the election.
