OSOGBO: Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the ongoing crisis within the party’s national leadership as the reason for his departure.
The governor made the announcement on his official X handle on Monday, attaching a copy of his resignation letter dated November 4, 2025, addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 2, Sagba Abogunde, in Ede North Local Government Area.
In his letter, Adeleke expressed gratitude to the PDP for providing him the platform to serve first as Senator representing Osun West (2017–2019) and later as Governor of Osun State (2022–present).
Adeleke’s resignation has raised questions about his next political move, as he has not indicated which party he intends to join ahead of the 2026 governorship elections.
Political analysts say the decision could reshape the political landscape in Osun State and influence alliances and voter dynamics in the coming year.
His departure marks a pivotal moment in the state’s politics, ending a notable chapter of his career with the PDP.
