Women mourn beside the shrouded bodies of victims killed in Israel airstrikes, laid on the floor of the Ahli Arab hospital in Gaza City on Tuesday.
Gaza witnessed its deadliest day since November 2023 as Israel resumed airstrikes, marking a sharp escalation in hostilities. According to news count, over 400 people were killed, making it the highest single-day toll since November 7, 2023, when 548 lives were lost, Gaza’s health ministry reported.
Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for Gaza Civil Defense, told news that among the dead were more than 130 children and many women, with entire families wiped out.
Sam Rose, the acting director of the United Nations Works and Relief Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), urged for an immediate end to the violence, stating that it is not too late to restore a ceasefire.

His plea came after Israeli airstrikes overnight shattered a fragile ceasefire that had been in place since January 19. The attacks hit various parts of the enclave, including Gaza City, Khan Younis, and Rafah.
It’s devastating for all of us, but especially for Palestinians particularly for children. These are children and families who have known nothing but fear, grief, and suffering for the past 15 months,” he said.
