Faleke Picks APC Presidential Forms for Tinubu, Signals Early Start to 2027 Re-Election Bid

The lawmaker representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, James Faleke, has officially obtained the All-Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination forms on behalf of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, marking a significant step toward the president’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The forms were presented on Tuesday in Abuja by the APC National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu, following the formal declaration of the process by the ruling party. Faleke, who is also the founder of the Tinubu Support Group, confirmed that the required ₦100 million fee for the forms had been paid in full on behalf of the president.

The development effectively signals the commencement of political activities surrounding Tinubu’s second-term ambition, even as parties begin to align ahead of what is expected to be a highly competitive electoral cycle.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the presidential and National Assembly elections are scheduled to hold on Saturday, January 16, 2027. Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections will follow on Saturday, February 6, 2027.

INEC has also fixed the timeline for party primaries, including the resolution of disputes, from April 23 to May 30, 2026.

Campaigns for presidential and National Assembly elections are expected to begin on August 19, 2026, while campaigns for governorship and state assembly elections will commence on September 9, 2026.

Faleke’s move is widely seen as an early consolidation of support within the APC, reinforcing Tinubu’s standing within the party structure.

Political observers note that the early procurement of forms could serve as a strategic signal to both allies and potential challengers regarding the president’s readiness to seek another mandate.

While the presidency has yet to issue an official statement on the development, the action by key party stakeholders suggests growing momentum within the APC ahead of the primaries.

As political activities intensify, attention is expected to shift toward opposition parties and potential contenders who may challenge the ruling party in the 2027 race.

More developments are expected in the coming weeks as the political landscape continues to evolve.
