The FCT command of the Nigeria Police have deploy about 4200 police officers to the lenght and breath of the federal capital territory ahead of the proposed nationwide end bad governance protest.
The command also announced the deployment of explosive ordnance device experts at various strategic locations.
The FCT command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, said the deployment was to ensure safety to the residents, protesters protection, and prevent the protests from being hijacked by hoodlums and non-state actors.T
he police officer went on to say that in partnership with sister safety forces, there will be operations such as stop-and-searches, raids on known black spots, and unfinished buildings or slum communities.
She state, “The FCT Police Command has proactively deployed material and human resources across the nooks and crannies of the nation’s capital in anticipation of the planned nationwide protest by some human rights activists and Nigerian youths to publicly express their displeasure over hunger and hardship.
“The proactive deployment is characterized by visibility policing, the deployment of explosive ordnance device experts and personnel at various strategic locations, raids on identified black spots, incomplete buildings/shanties, stop-and-search operations, vehicular and foot patrols, and other strategies meant to protect protesters, ensure public safety, and prevent protests from being hijacked by non-state actors
In addiction, she said, “The Commissioner of Police FCT, while acknowledging the right of residents to protest, advises that it should be peaceful.
The Commissioner of Police vows to resist all forms of violent protest and lawlessness in the federal capital territory.
