Edun, Cardoso, Adedeji Meet To Deepen Monetary-Fiscal Coordination

ABUJA:  The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Minister – Federal Ministry of Finance Wale Edun on Tuesday, met with the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr. Olayemi Cardoso, in a renewed push to strengthen alignment between fiscal and monetary policies.

The strategic meeting, held at the CBN headquarters in Abuja, was also attended by the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Dr. Zacch Adedeji.

According to a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations at the Ministry of Finance, Mohammed Manga, the talks centred on sustaining macroeconomic stability, boosting investor confidence, and unlocking private sector-led growth.

Edun stressed that close collaboration between the Ministry of Finance and the CBN remains critical to consolidating President Bola Tinubu’s reform agenda.

He noted that coordinated action is essential in containing inflation, mobilising revenues efficiently, and ensuring credit flows into productive sectors of the economy.

As the Nigerian economy continues to navigate complex global and domestic challenges, this meeting sends a strong signal of government’s commitment to a stable and prosperous economic future, the ministry said.

The session comes two months after a similar engagement between both leaders on June 17, 2025, underlining government’s resolve to sustain momentum in economic reforms.
