Lagos: Nigerian music heavyweights Don Jazzy and Shallipopi set social media ablaze on Thursday after spontaneously gifting fans millions of naira, turning lighthearted online interactions into life-changing moments.
The generosity began when a trending post on X (formerly Twitter) asked users to tag a celebrity who could potentially send them ₦1 million. A user, Adeyemi Adejoke Abidemi, who tweets as #PopoolaJoke4, joined the trend by tagging Mavin Records boss Don Jazzy, writing: Make I tag #DONJAZZY. I dey always dreaming about him. Happy new month, sir.”
Don Jazzy responded almost immediately, asking for her account number. Moments later, Adeyemi shared a screenshot showing a ₦1 million credit alert from the music mogul. Overwhelmed with joy, she posted:
“Jesuuuuuusssssssss, this is huge. Thank you so much for your incredible generosity… God bless you abundantly sir.”
But the surprises didn’t end there. Upon seeing that Adeyemi’s account previously held just ₦67.29, Don Jazzy added another ₦5 million, bringing the total to ₦6 million. “Amen ooo. That your akant balance is not healthy. I don add another 5 million. More blessings ma,” he said.
A stunned Adeyemi expressed deep gratitude:

Meanwhile, rising artist Shallipopi also joined the wave of generosity. While promoting his new album, he encouraged fans to prepare for summer with the caption:
Summer is coming, ready your shorts and bikinis. Don’t forget to take a lil speaker with you in case you wanna jam da Album.
One fan, Samuel Uchechukwu Ifesinachi (@teslime_dmw), replied:
Summer is coming, still broke as hell. Money to buy a sneaker no dey.
Shallipopi responded, “Imma send u a million if you promise to get yourself a very big JBL.” After receiving the fan’s account details, the singer confirmed the transfer of ₦1 million by posting the receipt online.
Another fan, Anirah Gabriel (@gabe_the_menace), reminded Shallipopi of a past conversation where the artist had asked, “How much you fit chop?” to which Gabriel had replied, “Shock me papi.” Picking up from where they left off, Gabriel boldly requested: Make I see 1 meter from u preside jare.” Shallipopi obliged, asking for his account number and sharing a screenshot of another ₦1 million transfer.
The feel-good spree has drawn widespread applause online, with fans praising both artists for their generosity and for using their platforms to uplift everyday Nigerians in unexpected ways.
