Delta APC Adopts Tinubu, Oborevwori as Sole Candidates for 2027 Elections

ASABA: The All-Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has unanimously adopted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as its sole presidential and governorship candidates for the 2027 general elections.

The adoption came during the maiden APC stakeholders’ meeting held on Sunday at the Government House, Asaba, where party leaders across Delta passed a vote of confidence on both Tinubu and Oborevwori for their bold and reform-driven governance.

The motion to adopt the two leaders was moved by the Minister of Aviation, Mr. Festus Keyamo, and seconded by the former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Victor Ochei.

Stakeholders, led by Elder Omeni Sobotie, the State APC Chairman, praised President Tinubu’s reform policies and Governor Oborevwori’s development strides, describing both as essential to the state and nation’s economic recovery.

Although several major political figures attended, former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, and a few others were notably absent.

Who Was in Attendance

The high-powered meeting was attended by senators from Delta’s three senatorial districts — Sen. Ned Nwoko (North), Sen. Ede Dafinone (Central), and Sen. Joel Onowakpo (South).

Also in attendance were former Senators Peter Nwoboshi and James Manager, House of Representatives members, former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, APC chieftain Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, Speaker of the State Assembly, Mr. Emomotimi Guwor, and several other women leaders and party executives.

Speaking at the event, former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa lauded Governor Oborevwori’s political foresight in leading Delta into the ruling APC, describing the move as a bold and unifying step for the state.

On April 28, 2025, when Governor Oborevwori took all of us to declare for the APC, I knew that was a bold move. Today, we can see the importance of that decision,” Okowa said.

He urged Deltans to deliver a record number of votes for both Tinubu and Oborevwori in 2027, adding that their victory would reaffirm Delta’s political alignment with national progress.

In his remarks, Festus Keyamo said President Tinubu has set Nigeria on the right path, noting that the removal of fuel subsidies has freed up funds for vital infrastructure projects nationwide.

Just a few days ago, the President approved $1 billion to revive the Warri and Calabar Ports, and another $500 million for aviation infrastructure, including rebuilding Lagos Airport. These are made possible by savings from subsidy removal, Keyamo explained.

He added that the Federal Government’s financial support to Delta State has enabled the execution of major projects that were previously stalled due to funding challenges.

In his response, Governor Oborevwori thanked party leaders and members for their endorsement, promising to justify their confidence through continued delivery of projects and reforms.

President Tinubu is a good leader who rewards loyalty and hard work. Delta will continue to support his administration,” Oborevwori said.

He reminded APC members to uphold the three guiding principles of Respect, Recognition, and Reliance, while assuring them that his administration would continue to implement people-centered projects across Delta.

Oborevwori revealed that the state’s finances remain stable due to Tinubu’s national reforms, allowing for the prompt payment of 40 percent mobilization fees for all ongoing contracts. We are solid financially.

On Tuesday, we will perform the groundbreaking of the ₦75 billion Sapele Road project. We have also approved the ₦59 billion Uromi Junction flyover and the ₦39 billion Ughelli–Otowhodo flyover. These are possible because Mr. President’s reforms are working, he said.

The event ended with a renewed call for unity among APC members and the consolidation of all political structures ahead of the 2027 elections.

Leaders described the adoption of Tinubu and Oborevwori as a strategic alignment for Delta’s continued relevance in national politics.

They expressed optimism that the joint leadership of both men will translate to deeper economic reforms and infrastructural growth across Delta State and Nigeria at large.
