Delta ADC Distances Self from Federal High Court Suit Against Party Leadership

ASABA: The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Delta State has formally dissociated itself from a lawsuit reportedly filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja against the party’s national leadership.

The clarification was made by the Delta State Chairman of the party, Okolie C. Austine, who stated that the state chapter neither authorised nor endorsed the legal action allegedly instituted on behalf of the 36 state chairmen and their executive committees.

Speaking in a statement made available to journalists in Asaba, the Delta State capital, Austine said the chapter had no involvement in the suit which reportedly accused the party’s National Working Committee of misconduct.

According to him, the Delta chapter considers the court action unnecessary and potentially harmful to the unity and stability of the party.

He stressed that the ADC in Delta State remains committed to resolving internal disagreements through the party’s established mechanisms rather than resorting to external litigation.

The Delta State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress dissociates itself from the purported suit filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja,” Austine stated.

The party chairman emphasised that the ADC prioritises dialogue and internal democratic processes in resolving disputes among its members.

He explained that distancing the Delta chapter from the court case was necessary to safeguard the interests of party members and aspirants in the state.

According to him, the move also aims to prevent unnecessary divisions that could undermine the cohesion and growth of the party ahead of future political engagements.

Austine noted that internal peace remains essential for strengthening the party’s structures and advancing its democratic ideals.

The Delta ADC leadership urged party members across the state to support the decision and work collectively toward building a stronger and more united political platform.

The chairman reiterated that the party remains optimistic about its future and is focused on consolidation and progress.

He added that the Delta chapter’s stance reflects its commitment to maintaining stability within the party while promoting unity among members.

Political observers say the development highlights ongoing internal dynamics within the ADC as political parties across Nigeria continue to reposition ahead of future electoral contests.
