ABUJA: The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Emmanuel Odiniya, father of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner Ilebaye Odiniya, following allegations of physical assault on his daughter in Abuja.
Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said in a statement on Saturday that officers responded to a distress call from Royal Anchor Estate, Wuye, in the early hours of May 9, 2026, reporting an ongoing domestic violence incident.
According to the statement, a patrol team from the Wuye Division, supported by operatives of the FCT Police Command’s Department of Operations, was immediately deployed to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers reportedly encountered a locked gate, delaying access to the residence until about 2:30 a.m., when entry was eventually gained.
Inside the premises, Ilebaye was found with visible injuries and was rescued alongside her siblings before being rushed to the NNPC Hospital Abuja for medical attention.
The police confirmed that Emmanuel Odiniya is currently in custody while investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The development follows widespread concern after a livestream earlier in the day showed the reality TV star in distress, with visible injuries and calling for help, sparking reactions across social media.
The FCT Police Command assured that a thorough investigation is underway into the alleged assault.
