Army Dismisses Four Soldiers in North-East Over Alleged Violation of Standing Order

ABUJA: The Nigerian Army has dismissed four soldiers serving in the North-East theatre of operations for allegedly violating a military standing order while fighting Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents.

The affected personnel are Mukaila Mutari (22NA/88/10253), Isah Emmanuel (22NA/83/7262), Kolomo Alex (24NA/86/5151) and Ibrahim Musa (24NA/86/0885).

Their disengagement letters, dated November 17, 2025, were sighted on Wednesday.

Photographs of the dismissed soldiers in desert camouflage uniforms were obtained by Reporters, though the specific standing order they allegedly breached has not yet been disclosed.

A standing order in military operations refers to a long-term directive or instruction issued by a superior officer that remains in force until officially modified or cancelled.

The dismissal came on the same day the military confirmed the death of Brigadier-General Musa Uba, who was captured and killed by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters after a violent ambush.

Last Saturday, top commanders, including the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, visited the Damboa military base in Borno State to coordinate rescue efforts for personnel abducted during recent attacks.

The abduction followed a heavy ISWAP ambush that left two soldiers and two members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) dead.

Security sources said the terrorist group launched a coordinated attack on a military convoy late Friday night, killing multiple troops and CJTF operatives and heightening tension across the region.
