APC Delta North Backs Creation of Anioma State as Sixth State in Southeast

ASABA: The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta North Senatorial District has declared its full support for the creation of Anioma State, proposed as the sixth state in Nigeria’s Southeast geopolitical zone.

In a formal letter dated November 3, 2025, and addressed to the Chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on State Creation, Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno, the APC Delta North Chairman, Chief Adizue Eluaka, affirmed that Anioma was ready for statehood.

Eluaka said the people of Delta North were united in their demand, describing the move as both a matter of fairness and a strategic necessity for Nigeria’s federal balance.

The APC Delta North Senatorial District is fully and unequivocally in support of the creation of Anioma State.

The realization of Anioma State stands as both a matter of fairness and strategic advantage for the federation,Eluaka stated.

The three-page letter emphasized that creating Anioma State would correct long-standing geopolitical imbalances, noting that the Southeast remains the only zone with five states, unlike others that have six or more.

Political leaders, traditional rulers, and civic groups across Delta North have also renewed calls for the move, insisting that Anioma shares historical, cultural, and economic ties with the Southeast.

Observers say the endorsement by the ruling party in Delta North could give new momentum to the ongoing national debate on restructuring and equitable state creation, especially as the Senate Subcommittee intensifies consultations nationwide.
