ADC in Delta Says Movement Will Mirror 2023 Obidient Surge, Targets 2027 Governorship

ASABA: The Delta State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has described the coalition of political parties under its platform as an emerging force it says will replicate the momentum of the 2023 Obedient Movement.

Speaking with journalists after a stakeholders’ meeting in Asaba, party leaders expressed confidence that the ADC would produce the next governor of Delta State in the 2027 general election.

Announcing the party’s formal entry into the state’s political landscape, ADC leader Mr Anthony Omonigho said the party was prepared to offer quality and purposeful leadership if entrusted with power in 2027.

According to him, the ADC is entering the political space without any encumbrances and is committed to presenting candidates of proven integrity for elective offices.

He said the party’s objective was to promote selfless service and provide a model capable of positively reshaping Nigeria’s political history.

Omonigho stressed that competence would be the primary consideration in the selection of candidates, noting that merit would take precedence over power rotation, which he argued often breeds mediocrity and weak leadership.

While assessing the performance of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration as average, he maintained that Deltans deserved better governance, given the enormous resources available to the state.

He added that the party was not deterred by anticipated challenges, describing ADC members as politically mature and determined to confront obstacles head-on.

As part of our preparations, the ADC will commence the revalidation of members alongside a vigorous membership registration and mobilisation drive, Omonigho said.

Corroborating his position, another party leader, Hon Ozeghe Lawrence, alleged that the country’s leadership had fallen into the wrong hands, insisting that the ADC had emerged to change the narrative and offer purposeful direction.

Lawrence disclosed that revalidation and aggressive membership drives were already ongoing to position the party for robust political engagement ahead of the 2027 elections. He added that internal mechanisms had been established to address disputes and prevent fictionalization within the party in Delta State.
