Former Super Eagles captain, Sunday Oliseh, has hailed Nigerian midfielder Alex Iwobi after he became the first Nigerian player to make 300 appearances in the English Premier League.
Iwobi achieved the milestone over the weekend during Fulham’s clash against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.
The 29-year-old began his Premier League journey in October 2015, when he made his debut for Arsenal against Swansea City. His impressive 300 appearances cut across three top-flight clubs — Arsenal (100 matches), Everton (123), and Fulham (77).
Reacting to the achievement, Oliseh took to his official X (formerly Twitter) account to celebrate Iwobi’s consistency and quality over the years.
Congrats Alex! For me, it’s a real joy to see this player continue to improve. A true talent,” Oliseh wrote.
Iwobi, who remains a key player for both Fulham and the Nigerian national team, has carved a reputation for his creativity, work rate, and versatility in midfield.
His 300th appearance cements his place in history as one of Africa’s most consistent players in England’s top division.
Fans and fellow professionals have since flooded social media with congratulatory messages, praising Iwobi for flying Nigeria’s flag high in one of the world’s toughest leagues.
