ABAKILIKI: Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has ordered the immediate removal of the state Commissioner for Works, Engr. Stanley Lebechi Mbam.
The governor also directed the sacked commissioner to hand over all government property in his possession, including his official vehicle, to the Secretary to the State Government.
The directive was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor, on Friday.
Following his removal, Mbam was directed to transfer his official responsibilities to the Permanent Secretary in the Ebonyi State Ministry of Works.
The governor did not state a reason for the commissioner’s removal in the statement announcing the decision.
The development takes immediate effect, according to the directive.
Governor Nwifuru assured residents that his administration remained focused on effective governance and the delivery of public infrastructure across the state.
The Works Ministry is responsible for major government infrastructure activities, including road development and other construction-related projects.
The governor’s latest decision therefore comes as his administration continues to emphasise infrastructure development and service delivery in Ebonyi.
No further details were provided on whether a replacement for Mbam has been appointed or when a new commissioner will be announced.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works is expected to oversee the ministry pending further directives from the governor.
