20 Minute Rainfall Destroys Woman’s Apartment in Warri – She Barely Escaped Alive

WARRI: A woman from Warri South, Delta State, is lucky to be alive after a sudden, intense 20-minute rainfall wreaked havoc on her home, causing significant destruction and sparking concern over the state of local housing infrastructure.

In a video she shared online, the aftermath of the storm is visible and it’s nothing short of devastating. Her apartment’s POP ceiling completely caved in during the rainfall, crashing directly onto her bed.

The video shows a gaping hole in the ceiling, surrounded by fallen debris. Chunks of bricks and plaster, used in the construction of the building, also collapsed and scattered across her living space.

The woman recounts her close call, emphasizing how she had just stepped out of her bedroom moments before the ceiling gave way. Her survival, she says, was nothing short of miraculous.

The damage wasn’t limited to the interior of the house. Stepping outside, the camera captures even more chaos: a tarpaulin carport in the compound had collapsed entirely. Plastic chairs, buckets, and various household items were tossed around and left in disarray by the sudden downpour and accompanying wind.

The video serves as a stark reminder of the potential danger of poorly maintained or structurally unsound buildings, especially in areas prone to heavy rains and flooding.
