ASABA: The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has reinforced its political footprint in Nigeria’s South-South region with the official commissioning of its Delta State Secretariat; a development party leaders say reflects growing confidence in the state leadership and the party’s expanding national profile.
In a press statement issued over the weekend, the ADC South-South Zonal Publicity Secretary, Mabel Oboh, described the unveiling as a significant milestone that underscores the party’s organisational cohesion, rising visibility, and strengthening internal structures in Delta State.
The commissioning ceremony was led by the party’s National Deputy Chairman, Senator Andrew Uchendu, alongside National Chief Whip Festus Igbinoba and other national and zonal officers, stakeholders, grassroots mobilisers, and supporters from across the state.
Their presence highlighted Delta State’s strategic importance to the ADC’s broader national growth agenda.
Speaking during the event, Uchendu noted that the new secretariat represents more than a physical structure, describing it as a symbol of unity, organisational progress, and the party’s readiness to offer credible leadership to Nigerians.
He commended the Delta chapter for its discipline and rapid development, adding that it is emerging as one of the party’s strongest state platforms.
He also stressed the symbolic and operational value of the facility, saying it would serve as a centre for dialogue, strategic planning, and decision-making aimed at promoting development, peace, and progress in the state.
National leaders at the ceremony praised the Delta State leadership under Engr. Austine Okolie, citing his organisational capacity, commitment, and dedication to building an inclusive and effective party structure.
They noted that the party’s steady growth in the state reflects deliberate grassroots engagement rather than superficial political activity.
Oboh explained that the establishment of a functional state secretariat would improve coordination, strengthen communication within party structures, and enhance mobilisation efforts at the grassroots level.
She added that these developments position the ADC as a credible alternative political platform in Delta State ahead of future elections.
She further highlighted increasing political interest in the ADC across the South-South, noting a rise in membership and growing demand for operational party offices throughout the region.
According to her, the commissioning of the Delta Secretariat signals a broader regional commitment to institutional development, discipline, and preparedness for governance.
The event was marked by enthusiasm among party members, who reaffirmed their commitment to the ADC’s principles of accountability, inclusiveness, good governance, and people-centred leadership.
Among dignitaries present were Dr. Chike Okogwu, National PWD Leader; Naomi Lasara Abel, National Woman Leader; Balarabe Rufai, National Youth Leader; Hassana Shuaibu Dada, Deputy National Youth Leader; Hon. Musa Bakari, Assistant Secretary for INEC Affairs; Bright Honda, South-South Zonal Youth Leader, and several other party leaders.
Party officials say the commissioning of the Delta State Secretariat reflects the ADC’s ongoing efforts to consolidate its structures nationwide and position itself as a serious contender in Nigeria’s evolving democratic landscape.
