ABUJA: Following a cabinet reshuffle initiated by President Bola Tinubu, the Senate confirmed the appointments of seven new ministers after a rigorous screening process.

The appointees, replacing those recently relieved of their duties, were chosen to lead in various critical ministries.

In this latest adjustment, Tinubu’s administration seeks to strengthen key sectors by realigning portfolios and bringing in fresh expertise to his team.

Among the new appointees, Nentawe Yilwatda replaces Betta Edu as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, while Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu steps in as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. Maigari Dingyadi was appointed as the Minister of Labour and Employment, Jumoke Oduwole as the Minister of Industry, and Idi Maiha as the inaugural Minister for the new Livestock Development Ministry.

Yusuf Ata will serve as the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, and Suwaiba Ahmad as Minister of State for Education.

Tinubu outlined in a statement that the reshuffle and new appointments is aim to enhance governmental efficiency and to refocus efforts on areas needing urgent attention.

Those affected in the reshuffle include former Minister of Women Affairs Uju-Ken Ohanenye, former Minister of Tourism Lola Ade-John, and former Minister of Education Tahir Mamman, among others.

Additionally, Tinubu reassigned key officials such as Yusuf Sununu, who now serves as Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs, and Bello Goronyo, who transitioned from the Water Resources and Sanitation Ministry to the Ministry of Works.

Doris Uzoka-Anite, previously the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, now assumes the role of Minister of State for Finance, supporting Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.

This overhaul marks a significant reshaping of Tinubu’s cabinet, with the administration poised to tackle new initiatives across education, youth development, healthcare, regional development, and humanitarian affairs.
