Senator Prince Ned Nwoko has appealed to Nigerians, particularly fans of actress Regina Daniels, bloggers and social media commentators, to give the actress breathing space as she deals with health challenges and focuses on her recovery.
Nwoko made the appeal in a public statement shared on his Facebook page, expressing concern over what he described as the circulation of false, disturbing and fabricated reports about Daniels, including fake death announcements and misleading stories about her personal circumstances.
The senator urged members of the public to approach the situation with compassion, stressing that the actress needs love, support and the opportunity to recover rather than public judgment, criticism or additional pressure.
According to him, the welfare of Daniels and their children should remain a priority, noting that the children are well cared for and deserve to see their mother supported during a difficult period.
I want to make a sincere appeal to the public, particularly Regina’s fans, friends, bloggers and social media commentators, to please give Regina some breathing space,” Nwoko said.
He added that Daniels had been through considerable difficulties, some of which he said many people might not fully understand.
Nwoko referred to a video Daniels shared on her birthday, saying it offered the public a glimpse into some of the health challenges she had been dealing with.
He said the video should encourage understanding and sympathy rather than provide grounds for speculation, criticism or online attacks.
“As someone who knows what she has been through, I can tell you that this is not a time to judge, vilify or add to her burdens. It is a time to show compassion and allow her the opportunity to heal,” he stated.
The senator maintained that despite the difficulties in their relationship, Daniels’ well-being had continued to matter to him.
He further claimed that concern for her welfare was a major factor behind the circumstances that brought aspects of their private situation into the public domain.
A major concern raised by Nwoko was the alleged circulation of fabricated death announcements and misleading social media publications concerning the actress.
He said such content was not harmless online engagement, arguing that the reports could cause emotional distress, particularly because Daniels reportedly sees many of the posts.
“These things are not harmless social media engagement. Regina sees many of these posts, and they are deeply distressing,” he said.
Nwoko urged her fans and supporters to help discourage the spread of false information instead of sharing or amplifying such content.
He stressed that social media users should avoid exploiting the actress’ circumstances to generate clicks, attention or engagement.
The senator issued a strong warning to individuals allegedly creating and circulating false reports about Daniels, particularly claims relating to her death, health and private life.
He said his team was documenting the publications and that individuals found responsible could face legal action through appropriate channels.
“Let me make this very clear: I will not tolerate the deliberate spread of false information about Regina, particularly fabricated reports about her death, health or personal circumstances,” Nwoko declared.
He called on those operating social media accounts to stop inventing stories and misleading the public about the actress.
According to him, Daniels deserves the opportunity to recover without being subjected to repeated waves of fabricated stories.
Nwoko’s appeal comes amid public attention surrounding the actress and developments in her personal life.
His statement focused on the need to protect Daniels from harmful speculation and give her room to address her challenges away from unnecessary public pressure.
While the senator called for compassion and restraint, he also emphasised the importance of responsible online behaviour, particularly when publications concern a person’s health or alleged death.
He urged fans, friends, bloggers and social media users to prioritise verified information and respect the actress’ dignity as she navigates the situation.
The senator maintained that supporting Daniels and protecting the well-being of the children should take precedence over online controversy and sensational claims.
