WARRI: The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a man identified simply as Paul, who allegedly stabbed his younger brother, Saturday, to death following a dispute in the Ugbokodo community of Okpe Local Government Area.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident via a text message to a correspondent in Warri. His brief response read: “Confirmed,” adding that the suspect is currently in custody.
According to eyewitness accounts, the fatal incident occurred on Thursday evening after a quarrel over a missing N2,000 allegedly belonging to the suspect’s wife.
She accused the deceased of stealing the money, a claim he denied. During a heated exchange, she reportedly seized Saturday’s shirt, prompting a physical confrontation in which the deceased slapped her.

Neighbors quickly intervened to break up the altercation, but the situation escalated when the woman called her husband, popularly known as Papa Jeffery.
In a fit of rage, Paul arrived at the scene with one of his sons.
Without verifying the circumstances, they tracked Saturday to the Ugbokodo waterside, where they allegedly beat and stabbed him multiple times, resulting in his death.
In response to the killing, angry youths from the community launched a reprisal, setting fire to the suspect’s house and his wife’s shop. The unrest was contained following the swift intervention of police officers and military personnel.
The Delta State Police Command says investigations are ongoing, and the suspect will face prosecution for the crime.
