ASABA: The Delta State Government is in mourning following the sudden and controversial death of Chief Shimite Love, the Special Adviser to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Trade and Export.
Her passing has stirred public interest and raised serious questions, especially as suspicion mounts around her husband, Pastor Love.
Details surrounding the incident remain unclear at the time of this report, but unconfirmed sources have hinted at possible foul play. The circumstances leading up to her death have yet to be made fully public, fueling speculation and concern across the state and beyond.
When reached for confirmation, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, Superintendent of Police Bright Edafe, confirmed the death of Mrs. Love.
According to him, she was pronounced dead at a hospital where she had been rushed earlier. However, the exact cause of death has not been determined.
SP Edafe clarified that while Pastor Love her husband was not formally arrested, he has been taken into protective custody by the police.
We didn’t arrest her husband, Edafe stated. He is in protective custody. The husband was the one who reported her death to the police.
He said his wife died early this morning and claimed he was receiving threats from her family, who suspected him of being responsible.

According to Edafe, the decision to place Pastor Love under protective watch came after he raised concerns about his safety due to escalating tensions with the deceased’s family. “He feared they might attack him, so we moved in to prevent any breakdown of law and order,” Edafe said.
However, the situation took a new turn when members of Shimitte Love’s family visited the police station and officially accused her husband of being involved in her death. “They lodged a formal complaint alleging that the husband may have been responsible for her demise,” Edafe added.
The police have since opened an active investigation into the matter. “In situations like this,” Edafe explained, “the facts can only be ascertained through a thorough autopsy. Until then, we cannot draw any conclusions. We are handling the matter with utmost professionalism and sensitivity.
