UYO: Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has addressed a trending video allegedly involving a family member and the circumstances surrounding the passing of his wife. In his response, the governor emphasized that his family remains united and that he remains focused on his responsibilities.
Speaking to Government House correspondents upon his arrival at the Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort in Uyo for the 60th birthday of former Deputy Governor Obong Nsima Ekere, Governor Eno dismissed the video as politically motivated. We are in political times, so you can expect more of that. My family is intact, you can see everyone here with me,” he said.
Referring to the video’s timing, the governor questioned its sudden circulation: This happened right after my wife passed away last year. Why is it resurfacing now, right before our second anniversary and just as we’re marking key milestones?

Governor Eno called for empathy, noting the emotional toll on his children and urging the public not to rekindle painful memories. enough that I lost my wife. I pray her soul rests in peace. I will not be distracted. I remain focused on serving the people of Akwa Ibom.
He concluded with a message for his critics: If those spreading rumors wish this kind of pain on themselves, I wish them luck. But I won’t be deterred from fulfilling my promise to our people.
The governor also extended his best wishes to Obong Nsima Ekere on his 60th birthday, praying for continued strength, health, and wisdom in his service to the state and nation.
